Pearl Snowflake Card

Hi everyone, I was inspired by Sarah Moerman's card here and I have been wanting to make something similar.  And I finally did it.

For this card, I first die cut the card base using Hero Arts Frame Cut Big Snowflake.  Then I use the small snow flake stamp from the Hero Arts Stamp It: Winter set to stamp the background with Broken China distress ink.  Dry embossed the die shape using Snow Flyrries embossing folder from Sizzix, apply Pearl Arylic Paint to the raised area, and finally tie a snowflake brad (dabbed with Pearl Arylic Paint) with blue twine.

I am going enter it the current Tuesday Trigger - Shimmer & Shine challenge.  Also I'd playing along for a Flickr challenge hosted by Barb Engler.  See details here.  Oh one more and that's the current Simon Says Stamps Challenge - Snowflake.

Cheers.

Knotty Pearly Wreath

Hi everyone, I am so happy today I've made the following card.

As soon as I found out the theme of current CAS-ual Fridays' challenge - Create a Clean And Simple project that features a knot or knotsI know what I want to do, it just took me a little time to finish the card.  And I thought the pearls are shiny enough to enter this current Tuesday Trigger: Shimmer and Shines challenge over at Moxie Fab World.

I trimmed very thin green cs strip (in three shades), tie a bundle of three into knots, and glue them down in the shape of a round wreath.  Then embellished with white pearls, and red twine bow.

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely weekend.

PPC #91 - Happy Anniversary

Hi, a quick post to share a card for the Playing in Paradise Challenge - Happy Anniversary.  I have been trying to use up existing CS, so I picked up a piece pink one and continue from there.

Embossing folder (Cuttlebug 37-1153 Textile).  I dry embossed the CS and then sand it down a bit, then rub Archival Brilliance (Moonlight White) on the raised area.  Die cut window with Hero Arts Frame Cut (DI006).  I cut very thin white and green CS strips and bundle them as shown in place of leaves for the homemade paper flower.

TFL.

Hero Arts November challenge

Happy Monday friends.  Where the time goes, we are back to standard time, and it's November already!!  Yikes!   Only 6 more weekends to Christmas, so obviously Christmas cards has high priority on my 'to do' list.  And when it comes to Christmas cards, snowflakes always comes to mind.  I made two cards for the Hero Arts November challenge - Bring on the Bling

Inside

I used the Dazzling Snowflake (Hero Arts S5605) for both cards.  The first one stamped with Vintage Photo (Ranger Distress), and embellished with Platinum Stickles.  The second one I stamp the snowflake on white CS with Broken Chine (Ranger Distress) multiple times and die cut with Big and Small Snowflake frame cut.  The one on the card front is embellished with Diamond Stickles and gems.  I glue three other snowflakes together to attached them to the inside of the card so it gives a 3D effect when the card is opened.  The glitter is not showing up on the photo, but I promise you, the cards are very glittery in real life.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a lovely day!

CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #3

Happy Sunday all:

I hope everything is well with you given that the 'super storm' Sandy is lurking outside.  Got some birthdays coming up next month, and I really like this sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch and I couldn't resist but to play along.

I rotated the sketch 90 degrese counter clockwise, and used a piece of pp from "3bugsinarug" that I've hoarded for, oh I don't know, three four years!?  The English greeting is from Hero Arts, the Chinese one is computer generated.  Cupcake stamp is from Hot Off The Press.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

Wedding cake and hearts

Welcome back.  It's Cindy here.  Today I am sharing a card I made

1) to help celebrate a fellow stamper - Cathy Fong's upcoming wedding, and
2) to enter the current CAS-ual Fridays' challenge - CFC74 put your {heart} into it, and
3) to enter the current Playing in Paradise challenge - PPC#88 Is there an Echo in the post, and
4) to enter the first challenge of a new challenge blog CAS(E) this Sketch, but sadly I missed the deadline of this one.

For my card I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch:

Here's my card:

The hearts are punhed from pink card stock.  The wedding cake stamp is from Stampin' Up, I stamped it in black and sponged Spun Sugar (Range Distress) ink over it; and used glossy accent to add shine.  I am still learning how to make a CAS (clean and simple) card, I like this one, but then I start to wonder if it is not finished!  LOL  Anyway I should not overthink it right?!  :)

Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy the rest of the week!

Happy Friday to all!

I am so excited to share a project today, I got a new stamp - Dazzling Snowflake from Hero Arts and the matching frame cut; and I've got some time to play with it!  I stamped it on acetate with white StazOn, die cut it and hung it in in/on an open card frame with twine and jump ring.  Ta da....

On the inside of the card I stamped a greeting (also from Hero Arts) with Frost White ink (ColorBox).  Card measures 5 x 6 inches.  I am going to enter it to the current Hero Arts monthly challenge - Make a Holiday Card

Give yourself a Challenge

Happy Friday everyone:

So excited to share this little card with you today!  As you may have noticed I am taking the Kick Start online card class over at Online Card Classes, one of the lessons' challenge is to team up with a fellow stamper to make a card using the same stamp!  Isn't it fun?!  So I teamed up with the talented Barb Engler whom I got to know from the Hero Arts flickr group, we've decided to use the Large Flower Background stamp from Hero Arts.  You could check her blog here and her Flickr photostream here.  So here's my card:

I stamp the Large Flower Background on acetate with StazOn (Cotton White), then coloured the flowers with glaze pens and adhere to mustard yellow cs as shown.  The faux Washi tape on the bottom is stamped with the same stamp with Distress ink (Wild Honey), and the ink used for the sentiment on top.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

Home Work

Happy Monday everyone!  Yeah I know it's a little late to use this greeting, it's very close to Tuesday... but I had a great day today.

It's the first class of the Kick Start Online Card Class, and I've learnt so much about gathering inspiration, and cataloging them.  To take notes or catalogue the ideas/inspiration I made a little note book from a "Nothing Book" I bought a long long time ago.  I used some pages to write (eh hem..) poems, but that didn't last long, and the rest of the pages has been left alone for the longest time.  And finally today I found a purpose for it, thanks to my teachers Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner.  So I altered the covers, and bind them and the empty pages with a book ring.

 Before:                                                                    After:

Thanks for looking.  Come back again to see more of my home work.

Folding card

Hi, welcome back!

Today is the birthday of my little guy and I've made him a 'never ending' card!  He likes to fold paper, a lot ... a picture is worth a thousand words, I'll show you what he made for me for Mother's day, and you'll see what I mean.

Mother's Day 2012

He used lined writing paper, torn, folded, coloured and assembled to make this 'pointed sphere'!  So I made this card for him.

'Front' of card

after open vertically

flip horizontally
flip veritcally, flip again you're back to the 'front', and you start over...

open flag to reveal secret messages

view of half open card

This card is really fun because you could just flip and flip and flip; thus the name.  If you want to make a 'never ending' card, just so a search on the web.  There are many sites/blogs that provide instructions of the 'how to'.

Have a wonderful day!

Saturday madness (3 challenges)

Okay I am sure you are familier with this phase  'so much to play and so little time'?  Yes? :D

If you are here to see the card for ABNH, please scroll down.

I will be taking a few days away from the computer, so I am trying to get some cards done, there are so many challenges I want to try but there is so little time!  Last week I didn't get to finish my square card on time for the CAS-usal challenge so I am determine to get one in this week.  So here's the entry to this week's CAS-ual challenge - Splish Splash (create a card or project featuring something you might see in or at the ocean.

Next up a square card for both ABNH - Challenge #10 - The Kraft Crafter and Hero Arts Auguest Challenge - Technique: make your own embellishment.  I am loving the white on kraft look, so why is my flower orange?  It was too pale when I left it in white! :(  And I made a butterfly button using some ultra thick clear embossing powder.

Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend.

What's my style

Hello there, welcome back.

CASE Study is turning two!  Happy 2nd Anniversary CASE Study!  This week they are having a special blog hop and a very fun challenge: create a card with our Signature Style.  So that got me thinking, what is my style?  Actually I think I am still looking for it! :D  But I revisited my past creations and I realised I am a 'one stamp girl'.  Majority of the times, I use only one stamp on one card.  So that's what I did here:

I stamped Hero Arts - CG431 Flower Table Cloth with ColorBox - Lilac on white vellum, then with ColorBox - Frost White on purple card stock, and one more time with Ancient Page - Primrose on pink card stock.  Cut out the parts I wanted (as shown).  Stamped sentiment Bonnidee - CL0111 French Greeting on white banner.  Assemble on white card base as shown and added a Hero Arts flower gem.  Voila!

For this new found signature, I am entering it to the both the current Hero Arts August contest - Clean and simple ,  the current ABNH challenge - Freestyle and the current Scrapbooker's Paradise challenge - Cup, Litre, Gallon.

Have a sweet day and hope you'd come back soon.

Paper Flower

Welcome back to our blog, Cindy here.  Today I want to share a little project I had fun making - a paper flower.  Ever since I saw Shari Carroll's July technique and video over at Hero Arts' Blog, I want to give it a try too.  But I don't have the exact material so I came up with my own version, and I am going to enter it to Hero Arts July contest.  Here it is:

So how do you like it?  Below are photos of the material I've used to make it.

So to do this I first stamp the Wood Grain flower (HA CL290) using Ranger Distress ink (Barn Door) on salmon pink card stock.  Next fuzzy cut the flowers, crinkle it and seperate the two layers of the card stock flower resulting in six layers.  Then I die cut some leaves in different shade of green card stock using (HA DI002), and one of the flower shape to be the base of the flower.  I made a crease in the middle of the leaves, and folder it to make leave vein.  Then a brad is used to thread all the flower layers together, then attached to the tip of the straighten paper clip.  Then I tear thin strips of green card stock, and use it like floral tape to wrap around the stem (the paper clip), adding leaves along the way.  Finally planted it in the wine cork.  Voila!   Here's a shot of the back/underside of the flower.

I hope it brings you a smile.

Thanks for stopping by.  And have a sweet day!
